Terms
Last updated 27 June 2026
These terms cover your use of EatFirst. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use EatFirst.
What EatFirst is
EatFirst is a household food-inventory app. You add what's in your fridge, freezer, and cupboard with their dates, and it shows you what to eat first, on your phone and on an optional e-ink fridge panel. It also offers a shopping list, reminders you can opt into, and a way to connect other apps such as CookNext.
EatFirst is not a food-safety authority. It simply keeps track of the dates and details you enter. Always use your own judgement and the manufacturer's labelling to decide whether something is safe to eat. A “best before” or “use by” date in the app is a reminder, not a guarantee, and you should never rely on EatFirst to tell you that food is safe. When in doubt, throw it out.
Your account
- You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email, so keep access to your inbox secure: anyone who can open that link can reach your account.
- You're responsible for the activity on your account and for the people you invite to a shared household.
- Provide an email address you control, and keep it current so sign-in links reach you.
Acceptable use
Please use EatFirst for normal personal and household purposes. Don't misuse it: no attempts to break, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service, no automated abuse of sign-in, and no using it to break the law. If you use the API or connect another app, fair-use rate limits apply.
Availability
EatFirst is provided “as is” and “as available”. It's a small project, so we can't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue features. We'll try to give notice of significant changes where we reasonably can.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, EatFirst and its operator are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for spoiled or wasted food, or for any decision you make about whether food is safe to eat. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ending your use
You can stop using EatFirst and delete your account and data at any time (Settings → Account). We may suspend or close an account that abuses the service or breaks these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use EatFirst after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, unless local law gives you other rights.
